A word from Jayne on appointments…

“I make the process of scheduling your first appointment as easy as possible.”

When people are actively looking to speak to a psychotherapist for the first time, they are often in great distress. The presenting problem has most likely reached its apex of discomfort and they are looking to talk to someone as soon as possible.

When patient’s first call their stress levels are at all time highs. They are seeking help and relief and want a consultation with a trained professional ASAP. Patients want and deserve a call back as soon as possible. I try very hard (unless I am away on vacation) to return all new patient calls or emails within 24 hours. The comment I generally hear from my potential new patients is "Wow, thank you for getting back to me so quickly!"
Next Steps: Are we a Good Match?
Once we finally connect by phone or email, I will talk with you in some detail about the reason you are seeking services. It is my goal to understand what the cores issues are. The reason why I go so deep so soon is: I want to make sure I am the appropriate therapist for you. If I determine after we speak that I am not the best match, I will do my best to give you a referral to someone who may be better suited to help you.

If we determine that we are a "good" psychotherapeutic match, our conversation will then move to logistics. We'll discuss:

Scheduling
We will compare our calendars and try to set up weekly sessions to meet. I find the consistent frequency of meeting keeps our goals in focus and enables us to checkin and shift priorities as needed. Once we reach a point of stabilization we can reduce session frequency.

Self Pay & Insurance (we will submit for you!)
I am paneled with United Healthcare/Oxford.

For all other insurances,  I function as an out-of-network clinician -- this means that sessions are self pay. However, I employ an insurance specialist who can submit to your insurance company on your behalf for benefits to go direct to you. Getting paid from your insurance is one last thing you have to worry about -- as a courtesy we take care of that for you.  You will need to provide the front and back of your insurance card, full name, address and date of birth for benefits to be checked.

In addition, we will file for reimbursement to go direct to you following each session -- making it easier for you to utilize your out of network benefits.

Your First Appointment
The first few minutes of our first session are housekeeping-related. We will review patient registation forms, discuss confidentiality and conduct a short intake, and then we are ready to dig in and engage in the therapeutic process!

We are committed to your privacy. Do not include confidential or private information regarding your health condition in this form or any other form found on this website. This form is for general questions or messages to the practitioner.
